A Fresh Morning
Wow, it's February 6th and this is my first post of the year; 2011 is flying by. Of course I would like to be able to get on here at least once a week, thankfully that wasn't an official resolution or I'd have already failed at it. This year I do want to try and be more active on my blog and my facebook page with new items, that's not a lot to wish for is it? I'll do my best, that's all I can promise.

Quilling or paper filigree is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. The paper is wound around a quill to create a basic coil shape. The paper is glued at the tip and the coil shaped, these shaped coils are arranged to form flowers, leaves, and various ornamental patterns similar to ironwork.
Quilling, also known as Paper Filigree or Filigrana, is an art form that dates back to the Renaissance and quite possibly to the Ancient Egyptians (who used thin metals instead of paper).
Basically, the quilling process consists of cutting strips of paper, and rolling them with a special tool. It sounds simple enough, but special skill is required to create more advanced shapes like marquises, arrowheads or holly leaves.
